John,
Abortion care is health care and a fundamental human right.
But access to this right has been stripped away from far too many. That’s why Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, chair of the Pro-Choice Caucus’ Abortion Rights and Access Taskforce, introduced the Abortion Justice Act. This bill will build the national infrastructure necessary to systematically expand access to abortion care and ensure every person is able to exercise their fundamental reproductive rights.
The Abortion Justice Act is a comprehensive bill that envisions an America where abortion care is readily available for all who seek it, regardless of one’s state, immigration status, or income. It affirms a legal right to abortion and miscarriage care across the nation. It protects patients and providers from being criminalized. And it requires that health insurance cover abortion care.
Will you add your name right now to say that you support the Abortion Justice Act and believe abortion care is healthcare?
But the Abortion Justice Act doesn’t stop there. It also removes systemic barriers to care, including immigrant families, and addresses systemic racism and disparities in the healthcare system. Further, it calls for federal investments in training, research, outreach, innovation and doula care.
“In a truly just America,” says Pressley, “everyone is free to make decisions about their lives, their bodies, and their futures with dignity – including the decision to pursue abortion care without fear, shame, or systemic barriers… I look forward to the day where our bodily autonomy is our own.”
In an era where not only has the Supreme Court taken away the right to abortion in the Dobbs decision, but multiple states have enacted legislation criminalizing the procedure, and Republicans in Congress are seeking a nationwide abortion ban, the importance of enshrining the right to abortion in a sweeping federal law has never been more urgent.
Sign the petition today and let your Congresspersons know: Reproductive rights are human rights. Support the Abortion Justice Act now.
Thank you for standing firm and upholding women’s reproductive rights!
