Solidarity is what we want. We do not want to find fault with
each other, but to solidify our forces and say to each other: We must
be together; our masters are joined together and we must do the same
thing.
- Mary Harris "Mother" Jones
Comrades,
First, there was a whisper in the plush carpeted conference rooms
of Washington think tanks; next, a murmur in the briskly
air-conditioned green rooms of CNN and MSNBC; finally, a full-blown
panic within the flop-sweat- and Big-Mac-grease-coated walls of the
Oval Office itself. All due to a dawning realization: Bernie could
actually win this thing.
Why are establishment goons and Trump loyalists alike freaking out?
The polls are part of it, sure: Bernie surging in Iowa, dominant in
New Hampshire, and comfortably in the lead right here in delegate-rich
California. And the fundraising numbers don’t hurt, either: Bernie
continues to lead the pack in new donors and small-dollar
contributions, ensuring that the campaign will have the resources to
contest every primary and caucus from now until the convention.
But to see the real reason why Bernie is the strongest candidate to
win the primary and defeat Donald Trump, all you have to do is scroll
to the bottom of this newsletter. You’ll be scrolling for awhile: our
calendar is absolutely jam-packed with canvasses, phone-banking
parties, and art builds. Only Bernie has a grassroots working-class
movement standing beside him, from the East Bay to New Hampshire and
everywhere in between, that fights for nothing less than liberation,
equality, and a dignified life for everyone. You might even call it
“democratic socialism”!
While you’re scrolling, you’ll also see rallies to support our AC
Transit comrades in ATU Local 192, a campaign kickoff for East Bay
DSA’s campaign against school privatization, our next installment of
Socialist Night School, and our bimonthly General Meeting. No matter
who you are or what level of experience you have, there’s no better
time to get involved. After all: we have a world to win.

votes roll in for our guy, Bernie Sanders. It's exactly 1 month til
the most important primary in the country (ours) so no matter what
happens, we're going to go all out from now 'til March 3.
So come on out! We'll have a speaker from Sanders's 2016 Iowa
campaign to explain wtf a caucus is and how to follow the results,
plenty of snacks, drinks and camaraderie, and ways to turn your
enthusiasm for a political revolution into action in the weeks to
come.
The event is free and open to the public. Invite your friends, your
coworkers, and feel the Bern!

** SOCIALIST NIGHT SCHOOL: BERNIE 2020 AND CLASS
STRUGGLE
------------------------------------------------------------
Tuesday,
February 4 | 7–9 p.m.
East Bay Community Space 507 55th St, Oakland
♿️
"Not me, us" is the slogan of Bernie Sanders's 2020 presidential
run. On the campaign trail, Bernie has consistently emphasized that he
alone can't transform society — that in order to end the stranglehold
of the billionaire class over society, millions of working-class
Americans must get involved in the political process.
Why does Bernie insist on the need for a mass movement to change
society? What is Bernie's campaign doing to build that movement? What
would a working-class movement need to be like in order to enact
fundamental change, and what should socialists do to grow that
movement?
Join East Bay DSA's Socialist Night School on Tuesday, February 4
to discuss these questions and others, in the third of a special
four-part series on Bernie Sanders, capitalism, and democratic
socialism. Readings will be posted soon!
Accessibility: Entrance and bathroom are wheelchair-accessible.

When plunder becomes a way of life for a group of men in a society,
over the course of time they create for themselves a legal system that
