We are running out of time to defeat climate change. And the news from earlier this month -- that this past decade was the warmest ever recorded and that the last year was the second warmest year in history -- proves that in a truly terrifying way.

After that news, scientists moved the Doomsday Clock even closer to midnight. But it doesn't take an atomic scientist to know Doomsday is looming ever closer: We can feel it and see it all around us. Every community, every family, every city in America -- heck, the world -- is experiencing the effects of the climate crisis.

But we know that while there is peril in the fight to defeat climate change, there is also promise.

We can use this as an opportunity to create a more just and equitable future, create millions of jobs, and rescue our future. The climate crisis can feel like an enormous, intractable problem.

But I'm here to remind you that the solutions are already available today. We just have to put them to work -- now.
