Hey team,

Sometimes it feels like all the news out of Washington, D.C. is negative. And that’s understandable — especially right now, barely a week after the Supreme Court ripped away basic rights and opportunity from so many Americans.

But I didn’t run for Congress on a platform of just saying no to bad GOP policies — I campaigned on getting things done to help regular families. And I want you to know that even as we fight back against right-wing extremism, I’m also working hard to deliver progress however I can.

And though this work often doesn’t make front-page news or trend on Twitter, it really does matter, so I wanted to share a few updates with you. Here are a few of the things I’ve been working on the last few weeks:

  • I’ve introduced several bipartisan bills to respond to our nation’s opioid epidemic — to improve recovery support for people struggling with substance use disorder, to prevent both the financing and the importation of illicit synthetic drugs like fentanyl, and to include naloxone in airplane emergency medical kits to reduce fatal overdoses.
  • I worked with colleagues on both sides of the aisle to propose a bill tackling our nationwide affordable housing crisis.
  • I proposed a tax credit to help families and small businesses recover from natural disasters.
  • I sponsored a measure to hold bank executives accountable by restricting bonus payments for leaders of any large bank that does not resolve serious regulatory concerns in a timely manner.

Team, I’m never going to be the kind of elected official who spends all their time commenting on the news cycle — because I’m too busy actually trying to get things done. If that’s the kind of approach you’d like to see more of in Congress, I’d be honored if you would pitch in a few dollars to my re-election campaign →
