on Air Pollution Has Stalled, Report Finds [ [link removed] ]Millions in oil, gas taxes
may have been lost because Colorado regulators didn’t enforce reporting
rules
What happens when you give fossil-fuel
companies free rein? They make a killing—and we pay the price.
Three new reports paint a damning picture of Colorado’s previous
administration. Two rank the air quality in metro Denver among the worst
in the country.
A third report—a state audit released this week—shows drillers skirting
millions of dollars in taxes. As House Speaker KC Becker put it, “This
highlights yet another aspect of the oil and gas industry that has gone
unchecked for years.”
This crisis is enough to make you sick. Pollution contributes to asthma,
emphysema, heart disease, cancer, strokes, even Alzheimer’s.
But it’s not just our air these companies are contaminating; it’s our
political system. The two biggest fundraisers in this race oppose the
Green New Deal and—no coincidence—refuse to sign the No Fossil Fuel Money
pledge.
We need leaders who will stand up to the fossil-fuel industry, not do its
bidding.
