Pressure works, John.
Last week, hours after the Supreme Court tossed his original plan to forgive up to $20,000 in federal student loan debt for more than 40 million people, President Joe Biden announced that his administration was not giving up.
In remarks at the White House, President Biden promised to use the authority given to his administration in the Higher Education Act to bypass the right-wing majority on the Supreme Court and deliver relief for borrowers being held hostage by the student loan crisis.
We’re not about to give up either.
We’ve only gotten as far as we have in this fight thanks to the organizers and people like you who took action and raised your voices. And we will need to keep on mobilizing to make sure student loan forgiveness reaches as many people as quickly as possible.
Make a contribution to help us keep up the pressure for student debt relief, and to elect more champions who will fight to make education accessible and affordable to every family in the U.S.

Our fight is far from over, John.
Year after year, Republicans make it harder for young people to attend college, and reward predatory lenders that keep students trapped in debt.
And we know that interest will continue to pile up on the principal balance for many, with many debtors ending up owing significantly more than they already did — even with Biden’s announcement that he will move to a “Plan B” on student debt relief, and his plan for a new 12-month on-ramp repayment program that temporarily removes the threat of default or credit score impact if borrowers can’t begin paying down their debt right away this fall.
Your contribution will help us keep up the pressure for student debt relief, and do the work now to elect more champions to Congress who will fight to make education accessible and affordable to every family.
In solidarity,
