Hi
John,
We’re experts on the politics of breast cancer.

This means is we connect environmental policy to its impacts on public health, and demonstrate what we as individuals can do to support systemic changes to stop breast cancer before it starts.

Our June advocacy work included supporting the following actions, alongside our partners and in coalition spaces:
* With more than 25 environmental justice partners, we signed on to the Sierra Club’s letter to the California Air Resources Board (CARB) urging the regulatory agency to create a comprehensive plan to track methane leaks from oil and gas infrastructure.  ([link removed])

Oil and gas manufacturing releases toxic chemicals into the environment, and these are the types of environmental exposures that are at the root of the breast cancer crisis.
* As the Department of Interior updates its oil and gas regulations for public lands, Breast Cancer Action has signed on to a letter with our environmental justice partners in the Last Chance Alliance urging the Biden Administration to phase out fossil fuel production and manufacturing on public lands.  ([link removed])

Because the climate impacts public health, all acts related to environmental justice are steps toward health justice.
* We’ve signed on to a letter opposing the Lone Cypress Hydrogen Project in Elk Hills ([link removed]) , California, a “blue hydrogen” project.

Blue hydrogen is industry jargon. It’s made from fossil fuels, it’s not renewable, and it’s marketed as if it’s a climate-friendly solution. The colorful branding won’t stop us from calling out industry tactics.

Your support and engagement is the foundation of this work to stop breast cancer before it starts – through prevention. By taking action with us when we mobilize and by ensuring the strength of the movement with financial contributions, we infiltrate and disrupt the politics of breast cancer and move forward together. Thank you.
