MCB leaders continue to engage globally and locally: from the United Nations to Parliament
The leadership team from the MCB have been active this past month, advocating for justice, peace, and community support in a series of national and international engagements.

MCB's Secretary-General joined a UN session on"Building Bridges between East and West," ([link removed]) addressing discrimination and violence against religious communities. The MCB remains committed to fostering interfaith harmony.

Assistant Secretary-General Maswood Ahmed congratulated Reverend Gill Newton and Deacon Kerry Scarlett on their induction as Methodist Conference President and Vice-President, contributed to a Women in Religious Leadership workshop.

Assistant Secretary-General Mariam Hassam supported the "No Child Left Behind" campaign for free school meals. The MCB promotes inclusivity and justice.
MCB delivers inaugural Eid with Refugees campaign

MCB launched the Eid with Refugees campaign, hosting Eid events for refugees and asylum seekers across the UK. The initiative aimed to promote compassion, hospitality, and acceptance.

Participating mosques included Khizra Mosque, Nottingham Council of Mosques, Madinah Masjid Luton, Balham Mosque and Tooting Islamic Centre, and Finsbury Park Mosque.

Secretary-General Zara Mohammed emphasised the importance of welcoming refugees and advocating for their rights. The campaign coincided with legal developments on asylum seekers in the UK.

The MCB thanks all participants who helped highlight the unity and solidarity shown during our sacred celebrations.

MCB Secretary-General attends First Minister Multi-Faith Reception
MCB Secretary-General joined the First Minister of Scotland for a Multi-Faith celebration at Edinburgh Castle, June 2023.

Scottish First Minister Humza Yousaf praised faith communities for their crucial role during crises like the pandemic and in uniting societies.

He highlighted the importance of compassion and kindness through the story of early Muslims finding sanctuary in Ethiopia under Christian King Najashi.

MCB Secretary-General and Assistant Secretary-General, Dr Shahzad Amin were delighted to visit our affiliates up and down the country.
