Hey there, John - it’s Alex Vindman.
I know your inbox is probably full of fundraising emails.
Not this one.
I just got back from Ukraine, and two weeks ago I was stunned to watch as many as 25,000 mutinous private military contractors drive within 200km of Moscow in defiance of Putin. It was chaos, to put it lightly.
And for a man considered by many (including some in the US) as “the ultimate strongman”, it was arguably the weakest Putin has ever looked on the world stage.
So, to save face, to reassert control, Putin is back to attacking civilians in Ukraine. That’s what his regime runs on — cruelty and blood. Putin and his regime are brittle and the war that they unleashed is leading to Russia’s unraveling and to dangerous times ahead.
That’s why I’m not asking you to make a donation, or to help VoteVets hit a fundraising goal today.

I know this probably wasn’t the email you expected to read today, but small acts like this speak volumes about the kind of organization VoteVets is — and about the people who support us.
Thank you,
Lt. Col. Alex Vindman, US Army, Ret.
