Congresswoman Tenney's Weekly Newsletter Have questions? Contact Me Here The Biden Crime Family Continues to Evade Justice The release of IRS whistleblower testimony by the Ways and Means Committee Republicans proves that the Department of Justice repeatedly and deliberately delayed and covered up the investigation into Hunter Biden's financial crimes. Now, the Delaware US Attorney tasked with investigating the president's son has ignored requests by the House Judiciary Committee to share any correspondence between his office and Attorney General Merrick Garland about Hunter Biden. I am dedicated to ensuring a fair application of our tax code, even if your last name happens to be 'Biden.' No individual, including President Biden or his son Hunter, should be exempt from the law. Watch more of my thoughts on this here or at the link above. READ MORE: Rep. Tenney to Newsmax: Committee Will Compel Testimony in Hunter Biden Probe Advocating for FEMA Grant in Niagara County Following the devastating floods in 2017, Niagara County has taken steps to restore Krull Park and mitigate future flooding hazards. This week the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) awarded a $1.15 million grant to reimburse the County for extraordinary expenses incurred from the severe 2017 shoreline flooding in Krull Park. I am grateful that the federal government recognized the significance of the flood damage and the extraordinary financial burden the recovery effort has placed on our local governments. I appreciate FEMA’s efforts to help and will continue to work with local governments and our federal agencies to ensure our NY-24 communities have the resources they need and deserve. The Biden Administration Must End their Silence on Israel’s Counterterrorism Campaign While Israel is engaged in a counterterrorism operation to neutralize Iranian-backed terrorists in Samaria, the Biden administration has remained silent. The Iranian regime is emboldened when the United States stays silent, which is why the United States must continue to be a leader on the world stage in opposing terrorism and the despotic Iranian regime. President Biden, Secretary of State Blinken, and Ambassador Nides must immediately end their silence and make it clear that the United States stands with Israel as it continues its counterterrorism efforts. It is also critical that the Biden administration recognizes that Iran and Palestinian terror organizations, such as Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), are partners. Not only does Iran provides tens of millions of dollars in funding each year to Palestinian terrorist groups, but it also trains, arms, and feeds intelligence to them. The Biden administration’s obvious lust for a new deal with Iran, the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism, has emboldened Palestinian terror organizations and placed an unnecessary strain on our relationship with Israel. Finally, under President Trump’s successful ‘Maximum Pressure’ campaign, Iran’s accessible cash reserves dropped by 96 percent, leaving less money for Iran to fuel terrorism. However, President Biden’s weak sanctions enforcement has fueled Palestinian terrorism, as Iran’s cash reserves are estimated to have increased twelvefold since President Biden took office. President Biden must restore the ‘Maximum Pressure’ campaign and make it clear that the United States will not relent until Iran stops its support to all terrorist groups and ends its pursuit of a nuclear weapon. Remembering Timothy J. Barber This week marks the three-year anniversary of the passing of Tim Barber. It was just Tim’s second day on the job when the temperature hit 93 degrees with a heat index of 95 degrees, and he died from hyperthermia on July 7, 2020, at a work site on the Route 63 Bridge over the Genesee River in Geneseo. Earlier this year, I introduced the Timothy J. Barber Act, which would require the Department of Labor to study the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) spending on technical support and compliance assistance for heat-related illnesses and recommend ways to increase its effectiveness. Technical support and compliance assistance help small businesses comply with OSHA regulations and defray the costs of compliance. This is just one way we can remember and celebrate the life of Tim Barber while working to make OSHA's spending more effective. As summer rolls on, I encourage all of my constituents, especially those who work outdoors, to be careful in the heat, drink water, and take rest breaks when necessary. Together, we can honor Tim's life and prevent others from needlessly suffering from hyperthermia.
