Fellow Conservative,
Congress was in recess this past week, but Heritage Action is getting ready for all that will happen when they return to session on Monday. In the meantime, the grassroots have been making their voices heard, submitting comments to oppose Biden’s heavy-handed regulations.
Government Grand Theft Auto
Two months ago, at the direction of President Biden, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released stringent regulations that would require the industry-wide reduction of tailpipe emissions for cars, pick-up trucks, vans and SUVs by 56% by the year 2032.
For such a reduction to be achieved, it would require that 67% of all new vehicles sold to be electric powered. This would mean a 11x increase in the production and sale of electric vehicles (EV) in just 9 years—forcing gas powered vehicles off the road by the heavy hand of government regulation.
But that is where you came in. You submitted over 15,000 public comments to oppose Biden’s gas car ban.
If this regulation goes into effect: <[link removed]>
- Cars and trucks will become less affordable
- Long distance travel will become more difficult
- The risk of power shortages increases
- More jobs will move offshore
Your work has put conservatives on strong ground to see this rule delayed or rescinded. Now that the comment portal is closed, Heritage Action will be watching closely and share updates as the Biden administration reviews the submitted comments.

Defending the Integrity of the NDAA
The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) is a legislative vehicle providing for the Department of Defense (DoD) to carry out its mission. The first NDAA was passed in 1961 and is reauthorized every year. It sets the recommended budgets for DoD programs and the policies for how money can be spent.
>>Important note on how Congress works: While the NDAA sets budgets for DoD programs, a separate appropriations bill is needed to actually grant the money to fund those programs. (A program can be authorized, but not have funding.) The appropriations process to grant money to fund government programs is one of the most important policy battles each year in Congress.
The NDAA is supposed to enable the DoD to effectively deter and fight foreign threats to the United States. But under DoD Secretary Lloyd Austin, the DoD has become increasingly political—distracting it from its duty to defend America. Last year, Secretary Austin issued a memo outlining a roadmap for taxpayer funds to be used for paid time off and travel for service members and their families to receive elective abortions.
The result of this policy is clear—your taxpayer dollars are being used to pay for abortions. This is not a longstanding policy of the DoD, and we should return to the decades long norm of not funding abortions with DoD money.
When unelected bureaucrats abuse their authority, it is the duty of elected representatives to hold them accountable. That is why Congress must use the NDAA to rescind any funding authority being used by the DoD for Secretary Austin’s pro-abortion policy.

Sen. Tuberville has been leading the fight to depoliticize the DoD by blocking the promotion <[link removed]> of approximately 250 military generals and flag officers until Secretary Austin changes his policy.
Call your Senators and ask them to publicly support Senator Tuberville’s effort.
