Numerous safety improvements have been made at Meta’s Messenger, Instagram, and TikTok, many of which correspond to requests NCOSE has been making of these companies: 👉Meta announced the release of Parental Supervision tools on Messenger. If teens and parents opt-in to use the tools, then the parent can view who their teen can interact with on Messenger, and be notified if their teen reports someone 👉Instagram added new features to their opt-in Parental supervision tools, including notifications encouraging teens to allow their parents to supervise their account, the ability for parents to see how many friends their teens has in common with accounts they follow, and more 👉TikTok created a Youth Council and added features which allow parents to filter content their teen sees, by blocking certain key words and hashtags Are these changes enough to protect kids?
