Meet our next generation of American Muslim leaders.

Dear John,

Our Congressional Leadership Development Program (CLDP) Fellows kicked off their summer in the nation’s capital. As we reach the midpoint of their fellowship, we want to share with you a recap of the exciting events, networking opportunities, and significant milestones they have experienced so far.

To start their journey, the fellows had the privilege of attending a lecture at the Supreme Court, listening to inspiring speaker sessions from Hill staffers and educators, and had professional headshots taken on Capitol Hill. We also came together for Jummah at the Capitol.

After Orientation Week, the fellows started their assignments, working in the offices of Senators and Representatives, government agencies, as well as alongside MPAC’s Policy Bureau in our D.C. Office. They participated in a dinner and discussion session at Belmont House, attended the Program on Extremism Annual Conference on Terrorism in Africa, and enjoyed a BBQ with the Muslim Public Service Network.

Most recently, they took the lead in drafting a statement ([link removed]) regarding the recent Supreme Court Affirmative Action ruling, emphasizing MPAC’s commitment to racial justice and equity. The fellows also organized and participated in our Democracy Forum: Navigating Free Speech and Hate on the Internet – a discussion on the regulation of social media to counter hate speech, disinformation, and conspiracy theories.
