In just her first six months in Congress, Rep. Summer Lee has
distinguished herself as a critical progressive fighter, never afraid to
punch back against right-wing hate and the unjust status quo.

This spring, I stood side-by-side with Summer as we both voted against a
Republican-led budget that rewarded Kevin McCarthy for GOP hostage taking.
Summer has stood by my side in our shared struggle for the rights of
marginalized communities―from LGBTQ+ rights to Palestinian rights. Summer
hasn't backed down in fighting for climate justice.

Last year, Summer overcame more than $4 million in attack ads and mailers
from outside groups, including AIPAC, to become the first Black woman to
represent Pennsylvania in Congress. Now, she’s preparing for her first
re-election campaign and an onslaught of special interest attacks, which
want to silence Summer and other strong women of color.

Before being elected to Congress, Summer already had a proven track record
as an organizer and state legislator who has fought against corporate
greed, systemic racism, labor exploitation, and environmental dangers.

One of Summer’s top issues is environmental justice, because her region
suffers from some of the worst air quality in the country. Like me, her
priorities include fully funding the replacement of all lead water
lines—and ensuring that clean air and water are treated like the human
rights they are.
