Here are some updates from today.
* A bar disciplinary committee recommended ([link removed]) that Rudy Giuliani be disbarred in Washington, D.C. for attempting to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.
+ The panel described how Giuliani’s involvement in Donald J. Trump for President, Inc. v. Boockvar ([link removed]) — a case in Pennsylvania in which he alleged that election fraud took place in Democratic counties but failed to present any such evidence — “helped destabilize our democracy.” Read the 41-page document here ([link removed]) .
* South Carolina Republicans filed ([link removed]) a brief in the U.S. Supreme Court arguing that the Court should reverse a previous decision that struck down the state’s congressional map for being a racial gerrymander.
Here are some other recent updates you may have missed.
* Earlier this week, U.S. Rep. Morgan Griffith (R-Va.) introduced ([link removed]) a bill that would ensure that only U.S. citizens are able to vote in federal elections, despite the fact that this is already the case ([link removed]) .
* Last week, Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards (D) vetoed ([link removed]) a power-grabbing bill that would have removed local officials' power to implement federal election guidelines.
Here's what to expect coming up.
* There are a slew of redistricting hearings next week, including in Utah ([link removed]) and Michigan ([link removed]) .
