John,
I won’t mince words here. We’ve been saying since we launched this campaign last year that abortion access is on the ballot in 2023. Last week, I spoke with The Messenger about what’s at stake here in Virginia.
“Folks across the country are seeing that Republican-led majorities are banning abortion, are infringing on women’s healthcare,” he said. “Most Americans, most Virginians, most Henricans support a woman’s right to choose… that’s going to be a very important consideration when people go into the ballot box in November,” said VanValkenburg.
Jamie Lockhart, executive director of Planned Parenthood Advocates of Virginia, has said, “Virginians are watching the decimation of abortion access across the South and know how critical it is to see reproductive rights protected here. Abortion is on the ballot in 2023.”
Republicans throughout the state, including Youngkin, supported a law banning abortion at 15 weeks and if the party completes a trifecta by winning back the state Senate, it is highly likely that kind of plan would become law.
Let’s be clear here, I’m the only candidate who will fight for women’s reproductive freedom in this race. You can support our efforts here to help Democrats keep the majority in the State Senate.
