July 7, 2023
Letter from the Mayor
Dear Washingtonians,
As young people across DC continue to play and develop their skills at DPR sports camps, we are also gearing up for several weeks of major sporting events in the Sports Capital:
Starting on Saturday, July 15 and leading up to the MLS All-Star game at Audi Field on Wednesday, July 19, we have All-Star Week in DC. You can learn more and get tickets to events HERE [ [link removed] ].?
Then, we will keep the soccer celebrations going for the FIFA Women?s World Cup. Starting on July 20, bars and restaurants will be allowed to stay open for extended hours so that we can cheer on the U.S. Women?s National Team ? which includes four players from the Washington Spirit.
And, in the midst of the World Cup, from July 29 through August 6, we will welcome the Mubadala Citi DC Open to Rock Creek Park Tennis Center. This year, by combining the Citi Open with the Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic, DC?s biggest tennis event is even bigger. Among the many world-class tennis players coming to DC is local star Frances Tiafoe. You can learn more about the Mubadala Citi DC Open HERE [ [link removed] ].
Whether you?re a soccer or tennis fan or just looking for fun experiences in DC, there?s a lot to look forward to in the Sports Capital.
Sincerely,
Muriel Bowser
