The 58th anniversary of Medicare and Medicaid being signed into law is later this month -- two programs that are essential for providing health care to millions and making America’s greatness accessible and affordable for all. (Over 1.1 million South Carolinians, over 20% of our population, are enrolled in Medicare!)
That hasn’t stopped Republicans from threatening to gut Medicare and Medicaid. They’ve done it before, and John, they’ll do it again.
That’s because Republicans put their political agenda over what’s best for the people they serve. Democrats always put people over politics.
We’ve not only worked to protect Medicare and Medicaid; we’ve worked to improve them. We lowered prescription costs and capped the cost of insulin for people on Medicare -- not a single Republican voted for that measure -- and are working to expand access to Medicaid to millions more people in states like South Carolina that have refused expansion.
As we recognize the anniversary of Medicare and Medicaid, I want to hear your thoughts on these essential programs and affordable health care. Will you take our brief four-question survey?
Thank you,
Jim
