Friend,
Once is chance, twice is coincidence, but three times is a pattern. The Youngkin administration has quietly removed youth resources pertaining to pregnancy/STI prevention and the LGBTQ+ community from a state website at least three times in the last 18 months! And it was in fact a pattern—each time, he did it because far-right news outlets brought the resources to his attention.
Ignorance literally kills; it’s no coincidence that kids in states with inadequate sexual education programs have far higher rates of teen pregnancy, maternal death, and untreated mental health issues in LGBTQ+ youth. Virginia can’t afford a governor that puts the needs of conservative media outlets over those of his constituents’.
I've already called on Governor Youngkin to immediately return these resources to state websites, in line with the recommendation of nearly every expert working in the state’s public health divisions. When the governor was sworn in, he promised to be your advocate, your voice, and your governor. Let’s hold him to that, together! Can you join me in demanding Governor Youngkin reinstated LBGTQ+ resources to state websites?
Please SIGN YOUR NAME if you recognize Governor Youngkin is WRONG for keeping LGBTQ+ resources offline, want taxpayers' dollars to be used equitably, and demand that these resources be reinstated today!
I and so many Virginia citizens expect our Governor to provide equitable and inclusive public resources for all. Please SIGN YOUR NAME to show Governor Youngkin that he can't make these decisions in the dark, and that Virginia's children deserve to have their voices heard.
Let's do the Right Thing,
Congressman Gerry Connolly, Virginia's 11th District
