Dear John,

Earlier this week, I had the privilege of walking in local parades throughout Northwest Indiana as part of our region’s 4th of July celebrations!

By far, my favorite part of this job is being able to connect with local families and community members. It makes the long nights of voting in the House chamber worthwhile, knowing I can give back to this community that I know and love.

To me, being in Congress is about public service. I’m not interested in stirring up drama or playing into any political theatrics. I’m proud to be a problem-solver instead of a problem-starter.

And during every tough negotiation and vote, my priority is always to do what’s best for all members of our community — because I wouldn’t be sitting in Congress without them.
