Hi John,
Yesterday, we welcomed six brand-new candidates to our 2023 slate—and the support they’ve received from our Sister District community has been amazing!
If you haven’t had a chance to make a donation and invest directly in their campaigns, please consider doing so now. We set a goal to raise $10,000 over the next week, and every donation helps jumpstart our support for these must-win progressive champions.

As we continue to ramp up our important work in Virginia, I wanted to take a moment to share a little more about each of these all-star candidates:
Russet Perry dedicated her life to public service and helping people, serving as a prosecutor and a CIA Officer.
Serving three terms in the House of Delegates, Lashrecse Aird led the charge to pass Breonna’s Law in Virginia, which banned the use of no-knock warrants.
A beloved Sister District candidate from 2019, Phil Hernandez was the first in his family to graduate from college. He’s worked as a Civil Rights attorney and an Obama White House Senior Policy Analyst.
Susanna Gibson is a wife, mother of two young children, a Nurse Practitioner, and a public health expert who will be a staunch advocate for reproductive freedom.
As a lifelong public servant and advocate, Travis Nembhard is focused on combating injustices, inequality, government overreach, and misinformation, and ensuring that the Commonwealth is transparent, accessible, and representative of all Virginians.
Amy Laufer is a former public school teacher and former Charlottesville City School Board Member who launched Virginia’s List, the only statewide organization dedicated to electing pro-choice Democratic women to the legislature.
Russet, Lashrecse, Phil, Susanna, Travis, and Amy are ready to fight for reproductive freedom, bold climate action, common-sense gun safety reform, and more in the General Assembly.
But we know Republicans will stop at nothing to win their trifecta, including spending big to attack and defeat our candidates. That’s why it’s so important we help our candidates raise the early resources needed to build winning campaigns.
Let's get to work! Split a contribution between these six campaigns and help us win back the Virginia House and protect our Senate majority in November.
