FEMA is hosting a virtual Local Mitigation Planning Workshop in August. This training covers the basics of mitigation planning for local communities. You will learn about the planning process, assessing risks, and developing and implementing effective mitigation strategies. This course is updated to reflect new guidance, resources and material related to the 2022 Local Mitigation Planning Policy Guide.?

Who should attend?
This workshop is for NRDs, local community officials, emergency managers, planners and other partners in hazard mitigation planning. It is most helpful to take this training when participants are in the early stages of plan development or update.

Have your plan expiration date handy when registering. Not sure when it is? Check the Plan Status Map. Participants whose plans are 18-24 months from expiration will be prioritized, to ensure the timing of the workshop is beneficial.

Space is limited.?Please limit sign-ups to two people from your planning team. FEMA will be offering more workshops at a later date. Your registration request will be placed on a wait list.

The registration form lists three sessions. To get credits and/or a certificate of completion, you must attend all three sessions.

Continuing Education and Certificates of Completion
This course has up to 12 Continuing Education Credits for the Association of State Floodplain Managers pending. It also has up to 12 Certification Maintenance Credits for the American Institute of Certified Planners pending. Final credit details will be shared during the training.
