New USCCB-CLINIC Guide: Assisting Afghans Paroled at the US-Mexico Border This is a joint USCCB-CLINIC guide for assisting Afghans paroled at the US-Mexico Border. The guide provides resettlement staff and legal practitioners an overview of the two types of parole, and covers immigration legal implications, documentation, benefits eligibility, and other resources relevant for assisting Afghans who have crossed the US-Mexico border. U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services Ombudsman: 2023 Annual Report This is the Annual Report to Congress on behalf of the Office of the Citizenship and Immigration Services Ombudsman (CIS Ombudsman) regarding the challenges faced in our immigration benefits system, this time examining calendar year 2022. This report, presented each year on June 30, details the urgent systemic issues affecting U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and identifies potential solutions to resolve these problems. Congressional Research Service: Increasing Numbers of Unaccompanied Children at the Southwest Border This report provides detailed analysis around the record-high levels of encounters with unaccompanied migrant children at the U.S.-Mexico border in recent years. It also explains which U.S. agencies interact with these kids and in what capacity. American Immigration Council: Three Years of Title 42 Beyond the drastic toll on human life and shifting public health policies, one startling constant has persisted throughout the pandemic. For three years now, the United States has turned its back on countless asylum seekers under Title 42—a Trump-era policy invoked by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on March 20, 2020. This analysis presents interesting points to consider.
