Dear NCRC members and allies,
Yesterday, during a congressional hearing on the government's plan to weaken the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), Comptroller of the Currency Joseph Otting attacked NCRC, our members and our allies. The head of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), who was the CEO of OneWest Bank when it originated just two mortgage loans to African Americans during 2014 and 2015, accused us of bias. He disputed facts and dismissed comments from our members and allies across the nation.
We need to show Joseph Otting the real people behind those comments - and why we're so alarmed by his plan to drastically weaken CRA and do real damage to our communities.
That's why we need you to show up at the Just Economy Conference in April. You're a leader and advocate for your community and we need Joseph Otting to hear your voice - and your community’s.
If ever there was a moment when we need to show up and be heard, this is it. By the time we gather the comment period may be closed, but the fight will be far from over.
We will not let our communities be bullied, silenced or erased.
Be there in April. You'll learn more and find inspiration in the wisdom and power of community leaders from across the nation. Together we'll be stronger to make CRA stronger, not weaker.
