The starting gun of the general election has been heard all across Virginia. We’re officially off to the races, John!

I won’t beat around the bush: We’re going to ask you for contributions plenty of times between now and November. What we won’t do, though, is ask for your donation without telling you how we plan to use it.

So, as we head into this incredibly consequential election, I’d like to quickly brief you on our strategy to elect Democrats across the Commonwealth: 

1. Hold the Line: Keeping battleground districts blue is critical to maintaining our narrow Senate majority. We’ll share resources directly with targeted Democratic incumbents running against well-funded GOP challengers. We’ll focus our efforts on the most competitive races and races where our support will have the most impact.

2. Play Offense: Flipping Republican-held districts blue is our only path to regaining control of the House of Delegates. We’ll provide financial resources and experience to help Democratic challengers build effective campaigns, connect with swing voters, and level the playing field with GOP incumbents.

3. Build Enthusiasm: Democratic momentum in Virginia has taken a hard hit in the past couple of years. But we cannot succeed without a broad grassroots coalition, and we can’t build that coalition if folks aren’t enthusiastic about this election. With more resources, we can show Republicans and Democrats alike that we have the tools to win.

So, with all that said, I’m humbly asking: Will you chip in $25 or more to help Defend Democracy PAC elect Democratic leaders and build a safer, more prosperous, and more democratic Virginia?
