John,
Billionaires are not just buying elections. They’re buying Supreme Court justices as well.
In two recent bombshell reports, ProPublica has reported on billionaire GOP mega-donors Harlan Crow and Paul Singer currying favor with Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito through lavish gifts and vacations.[1][2]
Now, the Supreme Court has agreed to hear a case that could bear on the constitutionality of taxing billionaires’ wealth gains.
For more than a year, Americans for Tax Fairness Action Fund has been building support for a Billionaire Minimum Income Tax, proposed by President Biden and Democrats in Congress.
Over the three years of the pandemic, America’s roughly 700 billionaires saw their wealth soar by $1.7 trillion―from $2.95 trillion to $4.65 trillion.[3] Yet, it’s possible none of those investment gains will ever be taxed. That’s why we need a Billionaire Minimum Income Tax to tax the wealth gains of households worth over $100 million, ensuring the very richest Americans are paying taxes each year on all their income, just like you and I pay every year on all our wages.
But in it's next term, the Supreme Court could rule those kinds of investment gains are nontaxable, handing billionaires billions of dollars in tax savings.
Donate today to fight for a Billionaire Minimum Income Tax and fight back against billionaires buying elections and Supreme Court justices.
Over the last year, the Supreme Court has ruled against abortion access, LGBTQ+ rights, student debt relief, and diversity in college admissions―upending long standing legal precedents in favor of right-wing ideology. Many of these decisions infringing on our rights came in cases bankrolled by the ultra-wealthy.
We’re fighting back against billionaires’ virtually unlimited power and influence. Donate today to build support for a Billionaire Minimum Income Tax so that billionaires pay taxes each year, just like everyday people.

Together, we’re demanding an economy and a tax system that works for working people, not just millionaires, billionaires, and corporations.
