John, We are in the thick of summer now - school is out, the 4th of July holiday is behind us, and the thermometer is on the rise. But for many parents, summer brings the struggle to find childcare and a warm meal for their kids.
That’s why the expansion of the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is so important. Included in Gov. Lamont’s tax cut bill that was passed during this year’s legislative session was the increase of the EITC.
This is an example of how Democrats deliver for Connecticut families. Please support our efforts to elected more Democrats across the state by making a contribution today. |
As the governor said, increasing the EITC is “one of the best anti-poverty tools” available to policy makers. Thanks to Democratic leadership on this issue, an additional 211,000 residents are covered by this expansion - and we now have the second-largest credit in the country. This means lower-income Connecticuters will receive tax credits anywhere from $460-$2,000 to help cover the cost of care, clothing, and food, and keep many families out of poverty.
Summer months are especially hard for lower income families, but thanks to Democratic leadership and the tax relief they passed this session, our state’s children are in a better position to prosper.
Policy outcomes like this are only possible by electing pragmatic, compassionate Democrats to public office. Please consider making a contribution today to support us so we can continue to meaningfully deliver for our residents.
