John,

The Fourth of July marked the Earth’s hottest day on record!

The climate crisis grows more serious each day, and our dependence on fossil fuels continues to push our planet to the breaking point – polluting our water, endangering our health, and poisoning our climate.

Senator Ed Markey and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez recently re-introduced their Green New Deal resolution, which proposes a 10-year mobilization focused on tackling climate change by investing in clean energy and creating millions of high-paying union jobs.

Food & Water Watch has been working for years to address the climate crisis by moving us off of fossil fuels. With enough public pressure, we can push Congress to actually address the climate crisis — the Green New Deal is a good place to start. Add your name to the joint petition!

The United Nations’ special panel on climate change has released reports showing strong evidence that if we don’t greatly reduce the major contributors to climate change (fossil fuels), the hope of staving off the worst effects of the climate crisis is lost. Moving to 100% renewable energy is one of the most impactful ways to reduce the emissions that endanger our water, health, and planet.

A fair and just transition to 100% renewables is more feasible than many thought possible and less costly than remaining stuck on fossil fuels. Not only is it doable (and will result in great jobs), it’s necessary. Full stop. Tell Congress to support a Green New Deal.

Food & Water Watch and its members will be pivotal in shaping a Green New Deal that not only invests in our future but puts its foot down against the dirty energy swindlers that have put profit before people.

The road ahead will be challenging. But as we experience the results of climate change firsthand – excessive heat waves, wildfires, dangerous storms, and droughts – we must push for large-scale legislation to fight back against climate change.

This is not the time to shy away from the policy solutions we need. This is the time to do what is necessary to protect ourselves, our families, and our planet. We must fight like we live here. Add your name to push Congress for a Green New Deal.
