Vince Charlton to Join FSC As Age Verification Policy Liaison

Vince Charlton, a seasoned industry professional from the UK, is joining the Free Speech Coalition as our Age Verification Policy Liaison. Focusing on the UK and Europe, Charlton will work to actively engage lawmakers and regulators in shaping age verification policies. FSC aims to be involved in the rulemaking process from the start, rather than solely relying on legal battles. With his extensive connections and experience, Charlton will help FSC gain access to key decision-making circles. He is known for his commitment to child protection and has previously been involved in the age-verification debate through pro-bono work with the Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection (ASACP). Charlton retired from AdultWork.com in September and has chosen to contribute his expertise to the industry through pro bono efforts, aiming to protect both children and the industry's freedom of speech. UK Porn Age Checks Raise Privacy Concerns

The UK government has introduced amendments to internet safety laws aimed at better protecting children online, including implementing age verification on platforms that publish or allow pornographic content. However, critics argue that the introduction of age assurance technology, such as facial scanning, could lead to the collection and potential misuse of children's biometric data by private companies. The proposed legislation would grant powers to the communications regulator Ofcom to fine tech companies, block access to sites, and establish criminal liabilities for non-compliant executives. Sex workers have initiated a mass reporting campaign on Instagram, in response to the platform's ongoing suspension and removal of accounts related to adult content.
