As we enter the third quarter of 2023, we're writing with an important membership challenge. But just to be clear, this isn't a "the world is on fire" kind of email — our team doesn't do that and we never will.

It feels like far too many political candidates and organization are abusing our inboxes. They use scare tactics, guilt and shame, and downright misleading language to coax people into donating. And we're getting tired of receiving emails from candidates and causes we just don't know.

Mothers Against Greg Abbott / Mothers for Democracy is taking a stand: We will never do that. We're committed to treating you and your fellow supporters with the respect you deserve, NOT like ATMs.

As one of the few national grassroots groups driven by our members, we're asking you to recommit to our movement and the democracy-saving work our organization does best — supporting and mobilizing Texas parents to defeat extreme Republicans like Ted Cruz and the MAGA-controlled Texas GOP.

Because, in truth, this summer is shaping up to be one of our busiest and most crucial. But as Ted Cruz ramps up his extremism on the campaign trail, the Mothers of Liberty grasping for clout and national attention, and Greg Abbott continuing to use the Texas Lege as his personal vendetta machine against Texas families, there is a lot to do. If you want us to.

So, here's the challenge.

We've just finished filming our latest ad, "Thoughts and Prayers." Last year, our public issue campaigns reached well more than 57 million Americans, and we know they helped achieve key victories on Election Day here in Texas.

Over the next four days, we want to bring in another 1,403 new donations to Mothers for Democracy / Mothers Against Greg Abbott so we can launch our newest ad too. We don't need big donations — just a few bucks, $3, $7, $17 at a time — when we all chip in, it adds up!

* If all 1,403 new donors chipped in just $14, Mothers Against Greg Abbott chapter members could make 3,036 calls to Congress demanding they pass common sense gun control, before we have to grieve yet another preventable tragedy.

* And if all 1,403 new donors chipped in $23, we could get our newest ad on TV here in Texas for a few days too.
