The recent Supreme Court ruling to allow discrimination against LGBTQ+ Americans is outrageous.
It’s disheartening to see the highest court in the land—which is meant to protect the right to liberty and freedom for ALL—move towards extremism. They’ve turned back the clock on equality and, team, we need to stand up against this ruling right away.
Standing up for all of our freedoms is a top priority of Sharice in Congress. She introduced the Respect for Marriage Act, which became law late last year, because she saw the court was moving in the direction of banning marriage equality and she wanted to make sure it was protected no matter what they did.
Sharice also just reintroduced the Equality Act to curb discrimination in the workplace and introduced the Pride in Mental Health Act to combat the high rates of suicidal thoughts in LGBTQ+ kids.
Sharice will never stop fighting for equality for all, regardless of race, gender, or who you love.
This ruling will not only impact the LGBTQ+ community, but could open the doors for discrimination against other minority groups. We must do what we can to show we’re not backing down—we will fight back at the ballot box and win.
