Dear Neighbors,
On July 1st, many of the transformational laws we passed this legislative session took effect, including increases in funding for education, renewable energy, public safety, and elections. Included are free school breakfast and lunch for all K-12 students, protecting healthcare workers against violence, limits on no-knock warrants, free college tuition for income-eligible students, and more.

Community Events During Interim
During the interim, I am focused on being out in the community, meeting with constituents, and preparing legislation for the next session. Here are some of the highlights from June:

*Senator Mohamed, Rep. Sencer-Mura and Rep. Greenman speak to a townhall of SD 63 residents.*
Our SD 63 delegation hosted a town hall to debrief and celebrate the end of session. We had a robust discussion about the budget bills we passed and the funding we secured for our district. I am honored to represent our district alongside Senator Zaynab Mohamed and Representative Emma Greenman.

*Council Member Chavez, Rep. Sencer-Mura, and Park Board Commissioner Alper smile for a photo at the Midtown Farmers Market.*
In early June, I joined Minneapolis City Council Member Jason Chavez at the Midtown Farmers Market for office hours. We talked to constituents about city and state issues, and were even joined by Park Board Commissioner Becky Alper. Farmers Markets are one of my favorite things about summer and the Minnesota Grown [ [link removed] ] directory has over 170 listings of farmers markets across the state for you to check out. For individuals using SNAP, Market Bucks [ [link removed](2).pdf ] are available to assist with access to fresh, healthy produce. SNAP customers can use their EBT card at participating farmers markets and receive a dollar-for-dollar match on all SNAP spending at the market [ [link removed] ], up to $10 per farmers market visit.

*Members of the education committee smile for a picture while touring the dance studio at Perpich Arts High School. *
Along with members of the House Education Committee, I had a chance to tour Perpich Center for Arts Education. Perpich Arts High School is a tuition-free, state funded, residential school that offers arts education for 11th and 12th graders from across our state. Learn more about Perpich and their work nurturing the next generation of Minnesota artists here [ [link removed] ].

*Rep. Sencer-Mura addresses the crowd at the East Phillips Urban Farm press conference while holding her son. *
The work to build an Urban Farm in the East Phillips neighborhood of Minneapolis continues. With support from the state, East Phillips is working to secure enough funding to purchase the property from the City of Minneapolis. They have plans for farming, workforce development and housing on the proposed site. I spoke at their press conference last month about the struggle for environmental justice and the role the state can play in supporting community organizing.
