Friend --
In 1964, hundreds of America's young people flooded the state of
Mississippi in a "Freedom Summer" seeking to finally overthrow the
segregationist injustices which had never been redressed since the end
of the Civil War. American youth went on to rally around the anti-war
campaign of Senator Eugene McCarthy in 1967, effectively ending the
political career of President Lyndon Johnson.
From the young Americans who responded to the leadership of George
Washington, to those who rallied around "Father Abraham" Lincoln to
preserve the Union in 1861, to the more recent Civil Rights movement,
informed American youth have always been a central part of defining a
positive course for the future of our nation.
And so today, it must be the young people of the United States who
rally and lead the American people to take back the institution of the
presidency to represent "We the People of the United States" in order
to once again make our a nation a force for good in the world.
