John,
Sunday marked 59 years since the passage of the Civil Rights Act, which ended segregation in public places and banned employment discrimination, and led to other landmark civil rights bills like the 1965 Voting Rights Act, which outlaws voter discrimination, and the 1968 Fair Housing Act, outlawing housing discrimination.
But just days earlier, we saw Affirmative Action overturned for college admissions. 59 years later, and we can confirm race has and always WILL be a factor in the country built upon the constructs of white supremacy.
This is why we fight to build Black political power and create a truly representative democracy — one that works for all Americans — and we hope you’ll agree with us when we say that this fight is more important than ever in 2023.
If you’re with us, will you chip in $10 right now? It makes all the difference and helps us fund Black democratic candidates across the country.
We leave you with the poignant words of Ketanji Brown Jackson from her dissent on the overturn of Affirmative Action:
We won't stop fighting.
