There’s a lot that goes into opening and establishing a new newsroom, and with the 2024 election coming up quickly, we have to start laying the groundwork now.
John, Ben here — COURIER’s Finance Director. I’ve got some *really exciting* news for you…
We have all the plans and details in place to open our latest newsroom: The Nevadan.
These plans are coming together just in the nick of time since Nevada is set to be a key battleground state in the 2024 election. There’s just one issue.
Right now, we’re facing a $12,000 budget gap that we have to close in order to officially open our doors, hire talented local journalists, and start reaching Nevadans all across the state. Will you chip in $5 now to help us get The Nevadan off the ground and grow our fight against bad information?
John, there are so many reasons we’re thrilled to be taking our fight against bad information to Nevada.
Democrat Jacky Rosen is considered one of the most vulnerable Senators up for reelection this cycle. You can be sure that this race will be close — in 2022, Democratic Senator Catherine Cortez Masto won by only .9%.
And when it comes to the presidential election, polling and pundits are already suggesting Nevada could be a tricky toss-up.
All of these races will be vulnerable to the same kind of misinformation and voter intimidation that we saw in Nevada in 2022, with claims of election tampering and voter fraud.
There’s a lot that goes into opening and establishing a new newsroom, and with the 2024 election coming up quickly, we have to start laying the groundwork for The Nevadan now.
But in order to do that, we have to close this $12,000 budget gap. Will you chip in $5 now to help us pull this off and get to work in Nevada?
