Fellow Conservative, Improving the infrastructure in our state is one of my top priorities in the U.S. Senate.
That’s why I proudly partnered with five members of the Texas congressional delegation – both Democrats and Republicans – to push the State Department to speed up the approval process for four new bridges connecting Texas and Mexico. Senator John Cornyn and Representatives Henry Cuellar, Monica De La Cruz, Vicente Gonzalez, and I signed a letter asking Secretary of State Anthony Blinken to expedite the construction of these bridges. |
The letter said, “Mexico is one of the United States’ most important trading partners with billions of dollars exchanged in exports and imports each year. These cross-border bridges will expand such trade, creating vital jobs and economic opportunities in the Texas border region.” “Many of the affected Texas communities routinely rank as some of the lowest-income towns in the state. They stand to benefit immensely from the expanded and efficient cross-border trade and tourism that these projects will bring.” |
