data snapshot trends in delinquency cases 2020
OJJDP has updated its Statistical Briefing Book [ [link removed] ] with a new Data Snapshot [ [link removed] ] on trends and characteristics of delinquency cases handled in juvenile court.
The data show that caseloads for delinquency offense cases in 2020 were at their lowest level since 2005. In 2020, person offense cases accounted for the largest proportion (35 percent) of delinquency cases. Two-thirds of adjudicated cases resulted in probation in 2020, and the likelihood of adjudication was less in 2020 than in 2005.
Developed for OJJDP by the National Center for Juvenile Justice [ [link removed] ], the research division of the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges [ [link removed] ], the Statistical Briefing Book offers easy online access to statistics on a variety of juvenile justice topics.
