New required employee notices added online

As of July 1, 2023, employers are required to provide or display different employee notices, including:


* Nursing Mothers, Lactating Employees, and Pregnancy Accommodations employee notice [ [link removed] ].?*All employers* must provide this notice to each of their employees at the time of hire and when an employee makes an inquiry about or requests parental leave.
* Packinghouse Workers Bill of Rights explanation form [ [link removed] ].?*All meatpacking and poultry processing employers* must provide this explanation to their employees at the start of employment.

The DLI "Workplace notices and posters" webpage helps employers understand which notices and posters they are required to provide to their employees or display.?

New law requires license for solar companies

A new law requires companies that contract with homeowners to install rooftop solar systems be licensed as residential building contractors or remodelers, giving homeowners access to the Contractor Recovery Fund. Learn more [ [link removed] ].

Apply for a Youth Skills Training grant

New edition of "COMPACT" newsletter available

The June edition of "COMPACT" [ [link removed] ], DLI's quarterly newsletter for workers' compensation professionals, was published online June 13. This edition included information about the enacted 2023 Workers' Compensation Advisory Council legislation, when to file a first report of injury, how Minnesota ranked among 17 other states in a recent report, answers to questions DLI's Alternative Dispute Resolution unit frequently receives and more.

Construction Seminar 2023/2024 dates announced

Minnesota OSHA (MNOSHA) Compliance has announced the 2023/2024 dates for its Construction Seminar series [ [link removed] ]. The seminars feature a presentation about a specific construction safety or health topic -- with time for questions, answers and input -- plus an update from MNOSHA Compliance about what's currently happening regarding investigations. MNOSHA fatality, serious-injury investigation summaries online

Each month, Minnesota OSHA (MNOSHA) Compliance publishes current, updated summaries of its fatality investigations and serious-injury investigations.

For the federal-fiscal-year that began Oct. 1, 2022, MNOSHA has investigated 14 fatalities through June 29.

The information provided about each investigation is:? the inspection number, date of incident and worksite city; the type of business and number of employees; a description of the event; and the outcome of the MNOSHA Compliance investigation.
