Qasim for Congress

Yesterday, Qasim launched our campaign for Congress — scroll down to see his announcement — and the response has already been overwhelming.

Now we’re asking you to join the team and become a Founding Donor to our campaign. Donate just $5, $10, or $25 now to help kickstart our people-powered movement for Illinois’ 11th district.

We know how many people stand with Qasim and believe we deserve better than a representative who puts corporate donations above his constituents.

But the bottom line is that we’ll need strong early fundraising numbers to show beyond a doubt that the 11th District is ready for new leadership.

What we raise in the first days will set the tone for the rest of our race — and we need every ounce of grassroots strength to take on an ultra-wealthy, corporate-backed incumbent.

Qasim is not taking any money from corporate PACs because he is running to represent you and your community.

If you’re with us, join our movement and become a Founding Donor today. Any contribution will make the biggest difference.

Thank you for your support in the beginning,

--------Forwarded Message--------

I want you to be the first to know.

I’m running for Congress to represent the 11th district of Illinois — because justice can’t wait.

I’m going to tell you more about why I’m in this fight, but if you’re with me, please chip in now to become a Founding Donor to my campaign for Congress. My opponent is ultra-wealthy and backed by corporate interests, and I won’t take a cent from corporate PACs — so I’m relying on grassroots support from Day One.

My parents taught me to never accept injustice. We immigrated from a country where, because of our faith, they could not legally vote. They worked hard, and we relied on food stamps and lived in Section 8 housing here in DuPage County. I went to Glenbard South High School, and worked at Dominick’s, my first union job.

Growing up, I learned quickly that the systems around us weren’t broken — they were built this way. So I became a human rights lawyer to fight for the people our systems push down and leave behind. I represent abuse survivors, non-profits, and I fight for our human rights.

Today, I live here in Naperville with my wife Ayesha and our three kids. When I’m at home, I pray, work out, make dad jokes, and try to get everybody in bed by 9:00 p.m.

When I’m at work, I am relentless in my fight for justice.

I want to take the fight to Washington because we deserve better than representatives who watch our world burn while taking donations from the fossil fuel industry.

We deserve better than representatives who witness our neighbors struggle to afford their prescriptions while taking donations from giant health care companies.

And we deserve better than representatives who rake in campaign cash from the same mega-corporations that take away our jobs, shut down our plants, and hurt working families.

The truth is that Big Oil, Big Pharma, and Wall Street will not want us to win. They’ll back my opponent, who already has nearly a million dollars of campaign cash to spend on attack ads.

Taking on his corporate money won’t be easy. But now is the time to unite together and build a world that works for all of us. The first 24 hours of fundraising are the most important of our entire campaign and will determine if we can win.

What do you say? Will you become a Founding Donor to our campaign and join our team by making a donation of any amount today?

Know that I do not take your support for granted. We are in this together, and I am grateful for your support on this critical first day of our campaign.

With peace,
