We are grateful for each and every individual who has joined us this Immigrant Heritage Month to celebrate the hopes and dreams of the immigrant children we serve. 

Our Third Annual Waymaker race is coming up! Join the Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights Virtual 1 Mile & 5K Run/Walk from Friday, September 15th through Sunday, October 1st. Choose any day, pick your favorite route, form a team, and run or walk together with people across the U.S to support unaccompanied immigrant children’s rights. Register before July 31st and save $5 off your registration.

We’ve just released our 2022 Annual Impact Report! Your support empowers the Young Center’s fight on behalf of every child and every family harmed by policies and practices that deny their rights, fuel family separation, and jeopardize their safety. Without you, many of our achievements in the past year would not have been possible. 

LIVING OUR VALUES

As part of our series on Community-Centric Fundraising we're also examining how we apply our values to other aspects of our work. This month, our Digital Media Specialist Alex McAnarney looks at the importance of ethical storytelling in achieving positive policy change for non-profits and social justice movements; and how a well-thought out, participative, and nuanced process is just as important as the intended outcome.

POLICY CORNER

In January 2023, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) rolled out the Young Adult Case Management Program (YACMP), a new program that targets 18 and 19-year-old immigrant youth that ICE deems “non-dangerous” and “low fight risk.” Although ICE characterizes this program as an “Alternative to Detention (ATD),” the program’s design makes clear that it will not decrease reliance on detention, but instead increase the number of young people under government monitoring.
