In 2020, Poynter convened its first group of Campus Correspondents (pictured above). Since then, we've been working with college students across the country to help us in a variety of initiatives in our fight against mis- and disinformation.
Think you've come across a student who'd be good for our team? If so, read on — and forward this email to them now.
The Google News Initiative and MediaWise, the Poynter Institute’s digital media literacy initiative, have partnered to launch a fall semester student fellowship program focused on combating misinformation and disinformation in communities.
Students will work in local newsrooms, covering regional misinformation trends, creating vertical video content, conducting research to help with stories or projects, or doing other tasks to help build misinformation resilience among readers.
Fellows will be awarded a $10,000 stipend for the course of the fellowship program.

Students must be:
• At least 18 years of age as of Jan. 1, 2023.
• Enrolled in an accredited college or university as of Jan.1, 2023.
• Eligible to work in the United States of America.
• Able to work in person if required by host newsroom.
Deadline for submissions is July 21, 2023.
