Friend,
I’m Matt Lieberman, and I'm the Democrat running in the special election for the U.S. Senate in Georgia against Republican Kelly Loeffler.
In 2018, I watched as voter irregularities and suppression swayed the gubernatorial election here in Georgia. Stacey Abrams’ narrow loss and the corrupted politics that fueled it inspired me to run for U.S. Senate today.
Stacey’s story echoes another experience close to me. In 2000, the presidential race was stolen from Al Gore and his running mate – my father – Joe Lieberman.
Now, I’m running for U.S. Senate to advocate for a new Voting Rights Act that will end voter suppression and safeguard our democratic process.
Like many Americans, I’ve watched the systems and the people that were supposed to work for us break down. I’ve watched with dismay as our institutions have failed us and left so many behind; as our politicians let their promises expire and our trust in the system dwindle.
But like many Americans, I’ve also seen what happens when we work together. And I’ve seen the power that the government has to produce progress for American families.
I’m ready to go to work for Georgia. I’m ready to fight in the Senate for voting rights, health care, common-sense gun laws, reproductive rights, and solutions to the climate crisis.
I’m ready to go to work for our families, our communities, our small businesses, our unions, and all those starting their journeys towards the American dream.
We can’t be discouraged into inaction by the failure we see; we need to step up and fix it.
Together, I know we can flip this seat, flip the Senate and stop Mitch McConnell. I hope you’ll join me on our mission to reclaim the country we love.
Thank you,
Matt
