John,
At the start of the year, we told you about our inside-out plan to keep fighting injustices and corporate-built inequity. Our goals are to organize the grassroots to 1) advance progressive policies 2) elect more allies, and 3) grow our influence in the party.
I’m reporting back halfway through the year with lots of exciting updates. None of this work would be possible without your support. Please consider making a $25 contribution today so we can continue this important work.
- To kick off the year our founder, Bernie Sanders, took over as chairman of the Senate HELP Committee — a role that allows him to take on corporate greed and corruption head-on while fighting for healthcare justice and labor power.
- At the start of this Congress, nine new progressive members were sworn into the US House. This is now the largest Progressive Caucus since Bernie founded it in 1991 and we are still growing. Building power in Congress is crucial as we hold the Judicial and Executive branches accountable.
- In 13 states, we launched major campaigns to raise the wage and end the subminimum wage. Working with our partners at One Fair Wage, we’ve held dozens of rallies and press events and we will not rest until workers are paid what they deserve.
- And of course, election season never ends. We’ve endorsed candidates in races at the state and local level this year and celebrated some major wins, including electing Brandon Johnson as the new Mayor of Chicago. As we prepare for the 2024 midterms, we are building power at all levels of government.
We have so much work left to do, and progress never sleeps. Will you chip in today so we can keep fighting for meaningful change?
Thanks for all you do,
Joseph
