Hope your June went well! We at Momentum Education have been busy and are excited to share our progress.
Firstly, Momentum Education is proud to announce that for this upcoming school year we will be partnering with Aldine ISD to mentor 40 high school students and ensure those 40 students graduate from high school, enter college, graduate from college, and secure a job. We are thankful for Aldine ISD's partnership, and we look forward to supporting their students.
Secondly, we are focused on ensuring every single student receives the individualized support they need. While this, of course, includes mentorship, it also includes wraparound services. This month, one of our college students notified us that they were interested in pursuing a career in Medical Imaging. We reached out to our network and connected the student with Dr. Renu Garg's office. Dr. Garg's team spoke to the student via phone, and the student reported to us that "the call went great and was exactly what I needed!" Thank you so much, Dr. Garg! This level of personal support is the hallmark of Momentum Education, and we will maintain this level of service as we continue to serve more and more students.
Finally, we are now providing monthly mentorship and enrichment services (including essay and resume feedback, connections to scholarships and summer programs, and exposure to various careers) to 542 students.

Kelly Tinsley

Kelly graduated from the High School for Law and Justice and is going to Sam Houston State University as a Criminal Justice major. When asked about her experience with Momentum Education, Kelly shared, "I am grateful to have had guidance during my high school days because it helped me realize my dream to become a prosecutor for the state. This program also gave me a mentor, which helped me realize that college isn't how I thought it was going to be. The guidance I have gotten because of my mentor helped me so much, and I really wanted to thank Momentum Education for that." Thank you, Kelly, we want to thank you for trusting in us, and we can't wait to see what you accomplish!

Cynthia Medina

Cynthia will be joining Lone Star College this fall as a nursing major. She has been awarded the National Society of High School Scholar and the Momentum Education College Scholarship. When asked about her experience with Momentum Education, she shared that "I am grateful for Momentum Education guiding me in my personal growth and academics from my sophomore year until my senior year. Having a mentor helped me acquire new skills, learn about resumes, and be organized. I am thankful for the support that I have received and the scholarship!" Thank you, Cynthia, for allowing us to be a part of this journey and know you will accomplish amazing things!

We are happy to recognize one of our alums, Nidda Mian! Nidda is currently in her gap year and is studying for her MCAT. She is currently completing additional shadowing and clinical hours. She is doing volunteer work in the community that is aimed at reproductive health and even co-led a project that advocated for skin care awareness in minority communities. When asked about her experience with Momentum Education she shared, "Since the fall of 2020, having been a part of the Momentum Education program I've had some great experiences. I've had the opportunity to be paired with some mentors who have provided insightful advice to my medical school journey. I've had the chance to participate in an internship with a physician which provided great clinical opportunities as well as the experience to work directly with patients. This was a great addition to my experience as a premedical student during the pandemic at a time in which opportunities like this were very rare. Momentum Education also provided events like 'career conversation' which allowed me to learn more about the daily aspects of being a Physician as well as different pathways to go about a career in medicine. I'm very grateful for all the opportunities that I have been provided with as a result of this program." Thank you, Nidda, we are honored to have been a part of your journey and know you will keep achieving great things!
