FLI Insider | First Liberty

At First Liberty, we had much to celebrate during Independence Day
this year. If you missed it, last week we won not one U.S. Supreme
Court Victory, but TWO. Right now, Americans can celebrate more
religious freedom than ever before.

But at First Liberty, we don't stop fighting for our First
Freedom. This week we have a federal court hearing in our Arkansas Ten
Commandment case. We've been fighting for the rights of the
Arkansas state capitol to have a Ten Commandment monument since it was
rebuilt after being run over by a truck. If you missed our First
Liberty Live! episode about it, click here to watch it now.

We're also releasing the 2023 edition of our Religious Liberty
in the States Index next week. The Index ranks all 50 states on how
they protect religious freedom through their laws. This year's
order is different, so you won't want to miss the reveal.

There's plenty more we're working on, including waiting on
several major decisions from federal courts. Watch this short message
from First Liberty President Kelly Shackelford to learn more:

While we just celebrated our 8th and 9th victories at the Supreme
Court in the past few years, we can't slow down. The enemies of
faith continue to press the attack. In fact, amid all our victories,
we had a whole new case begin.

Dr. Johnson Varkey, a biology professor at St. Philip's College
in San Antonio, Texas, was fired for teaching basic biology.

After 20 years of teaching with no disciplinary action on his record,
he was terminated for giving an ordinary lecture on biological sex
being determined by X and Y chromosomes.

Even though Dr. Varkey taught from school-approved and science-based
curriculum, St. Philip's College is claiming he was fired
because his teaching was "religious."

Now, First Liberty is stepping in to stop this injustice. To
learn more about this case, click here to watch our Live! episode.
We're committed to defending our clients like Dr. Varkey, but we
can't do it without your support.
