John,
Last week, the Supreme Court voted to end affirmative action, effectively dismantling efforts to ensure higher education is accessible to all, regardless of race.
It goes without saying that this decision is an enormous step backward in a decades-long fight to ensure a more equitable society. In a case that would have reaffirmed the value of diversity in our nation’s institutions, SCOTUS has chosen to side with those who question those values.
Let’s be clear, diversity is one of our nation’s greatest strengths. Taking affirmative action off the table will strip the next generations – especially Black students and students of color who are historically disadvantaged – of equal opportunity to quality education.
I am beyond disappointed in their decision, but I’m not backing down.
I hope you will join me in expressing your support for affirmative action by adding your name below.
