John,
In the year since the extremist, out-of-touch Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, 25 states have banned or restricted access to abortion.
But for the far right, that’s still not enough. Their goal is to eliminate the freedom to receive abortion care nationwide — and we need to fight back with a bold vision and a plan of our own.
Last week, WFP champion Rep. Ayanna Pressley introduced the Abortion Justice Act, legislation which would affirmatively legalize abortion and miscarriage care for every state in the nation, and provide the infrastructure that would get us to true universal access — especially for people of color, immigrants, LGBTQ+, and low income people who so often face barriers to receiving care.

The Abortion Justice Act is a clear vision for a nation where abortion care is normalized and easily accessible for anyone who needs it. The bill would:
- Affirm a legal right to abortion and miscarriage care
- Require insurance coverage to include abortion care
- Protect patients and providers from criminalization
- Call for necessary federal investments in abortion care, including training, research, outreach, doula care, and innovation
- Remove systemic barriers to care including for immigrant families
- And address disparities and systemic racism in the healthcare system
While we continue to fight back against state abortion bans across the nation, we need to go even bigger to make this a country where anyone needing an abortion or miscarriage care can get it — regardless of their race, class, gender, nationality, disability status, or the makeup of their state legislature.
Ayanna Pressley’s proposed Abortion Justice Act would transform this country for the better and affirmatively secure the crucial freedom to receive an abortion. Sign the petition now to show your support.
