Dear John,
Only one month into summer and already we have seen the impact of climate. From record-breaking heatwaves in Texas causing blackouts, to wildfires raging in Canada sending smoke across the United States. As we continue to become increasingly energy dependent, we must have a reliable, sustainable way to power this country.
The EPA’s proposed carbon pollution standards plan provides a clear end-point for where the industry needs to get to, as well as pathways to modernize how we produce power in this country and cut climate pollution from existing coal, gas, and new gas power plants. By providing several different opportunities for compliance and multiple financial incentives, power plants will have what they need to move forward with not only rapid emission reduction, but also making the transition to more long-term solutions.
The EPA rule isn’t finalized yet and we need your help to support the standards that will protect our communities and businesses.
