Dear John,
We are going back to court to fight for clean water.
Northeastern Minnesotans for Wilderness (Save the Boundary Waters’s parent organization) filed a request for a contested case, challenging the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources’ (DNR) findings as part of our groundbreaking lawsuit regarding Minnesota’s outdated copper mining rules:
In late May, the DNR found Minnesota’s state rules to be inadequate to protect the Boundary Waters from the toxic noise and light pollution inherent to sulfide-ore copper mining. This was encouraging news.

However, the DNR failed to adequately address the critical threat this type of mining poses to water quality.
Not addressing protecting the clean water of the Boundary Waters is an oversight that must be remedied.
Because what’s the Boundary Waters without clean water? If you are reading this email, it's because you are an avid Boundary Waters defender, so you likely know that the Boundary Waters’ watery ecosystem of interconnected groundwater, wetlands, and abundant lakes and streams makes the area especially vulnerable to mining pollution.
Luckily, because of dedicated supporters like you, we were able to jump at this opportunity to protect the Boundary Waters by filing the contested case and fighting for clean water. But we're not done yet. Now we have to make sure that we win in court. We need your support at this critical point in our fight. Make a gift today - all donations will be DOUBLED up to $10,000. Don't miss out on this opportunity to protect clean water.

We know that sulfide-ore copper mining poses too significant a risk to clean water, not just in Minnesota but across the country. In fact, toxic sulfide-ore copper mining always pollutes water: 100% of sulfide-ore copper mines have resulted in surface or groundwater pollution.
We won't back down until the Boundary Waters is permanently protected. Let's stop the rush to ruin this irreplaceable boreal Wilderness. Make a 2X gift for clean water today >> [[link removed]]

With your help, we will work to ensure that the DNR addresses all of the risks to all of our priceless natural resources at risk from pollution, impairment, and destruction from sulfide-ore copper mining in the Boundary Waters watershed. We need your help [[link removed]] to keep the Boundary Waters’ pristine water clean for generations to come.
For the Wilderness,

P.S. We are fortunate that the Boundary Waters is one of the last remaining places where you can drink directly from the source - but we have to fight to keep it that way. Rush a gift to protect the clean water of the Boundary Waters watershed >> [[link removed]]
