*1.??IRS Nationwide Tax Forums kick off next week as registration deadlines approach; register soon, San Diego nearly sold out*________________________________________________________________________

Next week, the IRS Nationwide Tax Forums will kick off in-person for the first time since 2019, providing tax professionals with multiple opportunities to learn more about changes to tax law and IRS transformation efforts. During each of the five three-day forums, tax professionals will experience an ambitious program during what is a historic time for the tax community.

"This summer marks the long-awaited return to in-person seminars at the Nationwide Tax Forums," said IRS Commissioner Danny Werfel. "We are working with our association partners to provide a timely look at some of the most important issues facing tax professionals during a dramatic period of change. Following three years of virtual sessions, the in-person seminars provide a unique opportunity for tax professionals in larger and smaller practices to get an inside look at key changes that can helps their clients and their businesses."

This year, the tax forums will take place in the following cities:


* *New Orleans:* July 11-13
* *Atlanta:* July 25-27
* *Washington, D.C. area:* Aug. 8-10
* *San Diego:* Aug. 22-24 *(almost sold out)*
* *Orlando:* Aug. 29-31

With San Diego nearly sold out, tax professionals are urged to register soon to secure their attendance at our west coast location, as well as New Orleans, Atlanta, Washington or Orlando.

*2.??Tax Forum Seminar Topics and Schedule*________________________________________________________________________

The 2023 tax forums offer more than 40 seminars [ [link removed] ] for which tax pros can earn up to 18 continuing education (CE) credits. Use this at-a-glance schedule [ [link removed] ] to help plan your days. The wide-ranging agenda includes a special focus on the Inflation Reduction Act's changes at the IRS. A special plenary session will explore changes outlined in the Strategic Operating Plan [ [link removed] ]. Other sessions will focus on changes to retirement plan distributions under the Secure Act and how to handle virtual currency and digital assets. And other timely topics will touch on warnings related to the Employee Retention Credit [ [link removed] ] and reporting changes to Form 1099-K, Payment Card and Third Party Network Transactions [ [link removed] ]. There are no advanced preparation requirements or prerequisite requirements for the seminars.

This year, four of our most popular seminars will be offered in both English and Spanish. These include:

* *Cambios en la Ley Tributaria para el 2023* (Tax Law Changes for TY2023) ? This Spanish seminar will be presented at all tax forum locations.

Tax professionals who attend this summer's IRS Nationwide Tax Forums will see a new series of special events [ [link removed] ], including sessions focused on practice management, the taxpayer experience and cybersecurity, and a town hall meeting with the National Taxpayer Advocate. These events are offered on a first-come, first-served basis and are subject to capacity limits:

*5.??Case Resolution Program*________________________________________________________________________

Tax pros can once again bring their toughest unresolved IRS case (one case per tax business) to the *Case Resolution Program*. IRS representatives with specialized expertise will be available by appointment only to meet one-on-one. If we can't resolve the case on-site or it needs more research, we'll assign it to the appropriate IRS unit for follow-up. A signed original or copy of your Power of Attorney (Form 2848 [ [link removed] ]), authorizing disclosure of confidential tax information, is required and must be presented when scheduling an appointment. To expedite scheduling, bring your Form 2848 [ [link removed] ] and a completed Nationwide Tax Forum Case Data Sheet [ [link removed] ] with you. This program is for client cases only. We cannot assist you with any personal tax case or any case in which you have a vested interest. If you have an issue with a case of this nature, please contact the IRS or the Taxpayer Advocate Service directly.

The tax forums also feature a *two-day expo* with representatives from tax, financial and business communities offering their products, services and expertise designed with the tax professional in mind. Also, part of the expo is the* IRS Zone*, featuring various IRS subject matter experts, executives and tax forum speakers. Participants can stop by to share their perspective on the taxpayer experience and learn more about how the IRS is working to strengthen cybersecurity, improve services and build partnerships with the tax professional community.
